BitDoctor AI imaging technology is an advanced form of remote Photoplethysmography (PPG) that captures blood flow patterns from face. BitDoctor AI integrates AI sensors into the smartphone's front camera, allowing it to be used as the core optical sensor. It employs state-of-the-art techniques in PPG for extracting raw signals, such as region of interest tracking, multiple raw signals, and utilizing three color channels, as well as estimating PPG signals through bandpass filtering to eliminate noise. Our cloud-based Affective AI Doctor Engine then processes this information to produce diagnostic result.
Our BitDoctor AI sensors analyst facial vascular networks by tracking 17 superficial artery regions in three color channels. The technology allows the capture and conversion of any stable light sources in the environment and analyze re-emitted light from the skin. Human skin is translucent. Light and its respective wavelengths are reflected at different layers below the skin and can be used to reveal blood flow information in the human face.
The digital optical sensors in smartphones are highly sensitive and thus can capture re-emitted light and its small attenuations. This information is captured by and contained in conventional video images. The quantity of hemoglobin protein in the blood and melanin pigment in the skin constitute different color signature of light. Our AI model able to separate the re-emitted light by extracting hemoglobin-rich signals and discarding melanin-rich signals from each image of the video sequence.
The information is extracted and sent securely up to our cloud-based Affective AI engine to be processed by BitDoctor's AI, where the data goes through advanced signal processing and Deep Learning AI models. Results processed by BitDoctor AI Imaging Engine are then sent back to your device/email for display.
The face is ideal for analyzing blood flow changes due to its rich vasculature and exposure. Unlike smartwatches, which utilize only one region to read blood flow data, BitDoctor identifies and analyzes 17 different regions of interest on the face. This provides 17 times more information, resulting in more robust and wider range of hemoglobin signals.
Yes, our technology is compatible with a wide range of devices, specifically those released from 2018 onwards, to perform the scanning. Our AI Doctor takes the first few seconds to calibrate the lighting environment, camera quality, skin tone, and other factors before starting the scan. It can operate in slightly dim environments as long as the lighting is stable and doesn't change or flicker during the 30-second scan. The AI has been trained on diverse datasets to ensure accurate performance across different devices and for individual with various skin tones.
The performance of BitDoctor will vary depending on the sensor's technical specifications, such as resolution, frame rate, wavelength sensitivity, and noise management. High-end sensors will generally provide more accurate and consistent results than lower-spec alternatives. However, even with the lowest specifications we can still achieve an accuracy rate of at least 85%.
While facial scans provide a convenient and non-invasive way to monitor vital signs, they may not replace traditional medical assessments in all cases due to their lower accuracy. This technology is most effective for continuous monitoring and early detection of health issues. Scans should be conducted in environments with stable lighting and internet connectivity.
Any phone model which released after 2018 should be capable of running the face scan. The application requires the permission to access the camera.

We are fully compliant with EU GDPR, AICPA, PIPEDA, and HIPAA. We do not share user information with third-party companies without explicit consent. Currently, there is no established framework for storing health data on a blockchain in a compliant manner. As such, user data is securely stored with Tier 1 services like AWS and Google, which are considered the safest by regulators.
Our objective is to collect large amounts of health data for internal use in advancing medical research to promote human longevity. Most research requires only anonymized, non-personal data. In fact, our users remain anonymous even to us. Should we need to share personal information for third-party partnerships or clinical trials, we will always obtain user consent, and those who participate will be part of a transparent revenue-sharing model through a decentralized ecosystem.
